Anthony Costanzo

Anthony began studying piano from the age of six. He then furthered his skills, majoring in Classical Piano, Composition and Musical Theatre at Monash University, Melbourne in 1998.
In 1995 he wrote the winning song for the International Year Of Tolerance competition. This success was followed in 1998, 2000 and 2003 with winning entries in the ASA National Songwriting Contest.
His first Musical JOHN AND SARAH, which he wrote with in collaboration with Mary Anne McCormack, was short-listed for the Pratt Prize for Musical Theatre in 2002. That same year he was commissioned to compose additional Music and Lyrics for the Australian Touring Production of THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE.
BOXED-IN was Anthony's second Musical, also in collaboration with Mary-Anne McCormack. Based upon his original concept, THE TOY STORE, BOXED-IN was produced by the Victorian College of the Arts in 2004. Under the Direction of Martin Croft and the Musical Direction of Tim Smith, the work was met by wide acclaim.
In 2006 Anthony wrote LIFE'S A CIRCUS, which was short-listed for the Pratt Prize. A vignette of the show was featured in the Inaugural year of 10-minute musicals for the Short, Sweet & Song festival in 2007, and material has since been performed by many Australian artists in both Cabaret and Concert performances.
LIFE'S A CIRCUS has again been short-listed for the 2008 Pratt Prize.
