Michael has an international reputation as an accomplished singer and actor. Since winning New Faces in 1978 he has had a diverse career throughout Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe.

In his home country of Australia, he has played lead roles in musicals including CATS, INTO THE WOODS, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOUR DREAMCOAT, FALSETTOS, GREASE, EUREKA, TIVOLI, SUNSET BOULEVARD and END OF THE RAINBOW. Michael is perhaps best remembered for the role of the Beast in Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (for which he received a MO Award). Michael has also performed in concert with The Australian Pops Orchestra.

His U.K credits include Raoul in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, the Rockstar in TIME, The Prince in David Freeman's new musical version of ROMEO AND JULIET and Wild Bill Hickok in CALAMITY JANE opposite Toyah Wilcox at the Shaftsbury Theatre. At the Venue, Michael played Alejandro Vega in a production of the new musical ZORRO, he also originated the role of Mike in the world premiere of EX! at the Arts Theatre and Edgar in WUTHERING HEIGHTS at the Old Fire Station, Oxford. Michael's more recent appearance on the West End was as Sir Percival Glyde in Lloyd Webber's THE WOMAN IN WHITE opposite Simon Callow and Anthony Andrews at the Palace Theatre, London.

Michael has appeared extensively throughout Europe, including concerts in Rome, Paris, Edinburgh and Cyprus. He toured Denmark as The Arbiter in Rossen Ronow's acclaimed production of CHESS and played Che Guevarra in EVITA at the Zouk Amphitheatre in Beirut.

Along with frequent television appearances including CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT, GOOD MORNING AUSTRALIA, and the TERRY WOGAN SHOW (BBC London), Michael has featured as a guest performer in the Royal Command performances in London of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and LES MISERABLES, the Australian Football League Grand Final entertainment, the official opening of Stadium Australia and co- hosted the opening of the Christmas Festival at Royal Albert Hall, London with Carol Vorderman.

As well as numerous cast recordings, Michael has completed the recording of a new musical of GONE WITH THE WIND, playing the character of Rhett Butler for the internationally acclaimed director Trevor Nunn.
