Sally studied at the National Theatre in Melbourne and later the Actors Studio in Sydney.

Sally relocated to the UK in 1991 where she performed in several West End musicals including Jerry Springer the Opera, Les Miserables and Jesus Christ Superstar. She had the privilege to work with people such as Madonna (Evita), Julie Andrews (Hey Mr Producer) and Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton in their musical; The Beautiful Game. In 2004 Sally returned to Melbourne with her partner to have their first child. Now with two children Sally continues to write and perform her own stand-up comedy and cabaret performances, most recently performing two new shows: The Sally Bourne Identity and Kidding Around at the Butterfly Club.
