Silvie Paladino has established herself as one of Australia’s
most versatile and talented entertainers. She began singing at the age of 9 and
at an early age won several major singing competitions including the Italian
Song Festival and the Grand Final of Channel Ten’s YOUNG TALENT TIME.
During 1989, Silvie was offered the role of Eponine in LES MISERABLES, an
exciting opportunity for an eighteen year old. She was nominated for Best
Supporting Actress in the 1991 Victorian Green Room Awards for her performance.
Silvie continued performing the role for a further twelve months touring
Australia and New Zealand to critical acclaim. She received the same recognition
in 1992 when she accepted an invitation to perform the role of Eponine on the
West End in the London production of LES MISERABLES. In 1997, Silvie was invited
to return to London where she performed the role of Fantine in LES MISERABLES
for a successful two-year season.
Silvie’s other Australasian credits include the role of Jeannie in the
Australian tour of HAIR, the role of Grizabella in the Australian and Asian tour
of CATS and since then has recreated the role in both Sydney and Kuala Lumpur.
In 1995 Silvie appeared as Ellen in Cameron Mackintosh’s Australian premiere of
MISS SAIGON at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre. For this role she received a nomination
for Best Supporting Artist in the highly coveted Mo Awards. Silvie played the
lead role of Donna in the smash hit MAMMA MIA! throughout Australia and Asia.
More recently, Silvie played the role of Rita in the world premiere of SIDESHOW
ALLEY.
Silvie’s concert performances include lead artist with The Melbourne Symphony,
The Sydney Symphony, The West Australian Symphony, The Australian Philharmonic
Orchestra, The State Orchestra of Victoria and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
She has also toured with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra in a series of concerts
in Thailand
In 2001, Silvie toured with her one-woman show SILVIE PALADINO SINGS STREISAND
for which she received rave reviews, and was nominated for a Green Room Award.
Silvie has released a live CD of this performance.
Apart from her theatrical credits, she is well known to Australian audiences
through her regular television appearances including CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT at
the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. She has also featured at many special events such as
the world-wide telecast of the Rugby League Grand Final in Sydney, the V8
Supercar Championships at Phillip Island and performed the national anthem at
the 2005 Australian Football League Grand Final in Melbourne.
Earlier in 2007, Silvie toured Australia as special guest performer with
Patrizio Buanne and she most recently released a Christmas album entitled Silvie
Paladino – Christmas List.
