"Throughout the triptych Magnormos proved itself to be an adaptable and energetic theatre company... raw talent ensured that each of the performances in the triptych was thoroughly captivating. It was an enchanting tribute to a wonderful composer and lyricist."
Following the success of A SONDHEIM TRIPTYCH in 2010, Magnormos proudly celebrated the career of another Broadway legend - the one and only JERRY HERMAN with three of his shows presented on three consecutive monday nights.

In partnership with Melbourne Recital Centre, the triptych included Herman's Broadway debut as composer/lyricist MILK AND HONEY on July 4, followed by DEAR WORLD - the quirky chamber comedy based on 'The Madwoman of Chaillox' on July 11, and the triptych concluded with the blockbuster audience favorite HELLO DOLLY! on July 18 starring Susan-Ann Walker as Dolly.
The three works were presented as 'concert staged' book in hand presentations, bringing both Herman's scores and the playscripts to life in one of Melbourne's most captivating performance spaces.
ABOUT JERRY HERMAN
There is never an evening when, somewhere in the world, the music and lyrics of JERRY HERMAN are not being sung by a lady in a red headdress, or a lady with a bugle, or a middle-aged man in a wig and a boa.
Hello, Dolly!, Mame, and La Cage Aux Folles are home to some of the most popular, most-often performed and most successful musical heroines of all time, and have given Jerry Herman the distinction of being one of only two composer-lyricist in history to have had three musicals that ran more than 1,500 consecutive performances on Broadway (the other is Stephen Schwartz).
His first Broadway show was Milk and Honey (1961), followed by Hello, Dolly! (1964), Mame (1966), Dear World (1969), Mack & Mabel (1974), The Grand Tour (1979), La Cage (1983), Jerry's Girls (1985) and "Mrs. Santa Claus" (1996), a CBS TV special starring Angela Lansbury.
Showtune, a revue of his life's work, is regularly performed in regional theatres around the USA and two of Jerry's classic songs are the emotional highlights of the hit Disney-Pixar film WALL-E.
His string of awards and honors includes multiple Tonys, Grammys, Drama Desk Awards, the Johnny Mercer Award, the Richard Rodgers Award, the Oscar Hammerstein Award, the Frederick Lowe Award, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Theatre Hall of Fame.
