Stroll along the banks of the Seine and creep through the wondrous sewers of Paris with DEAR WORLD, the Tony Award winning adaptation of 'The Mad woman of Chaillot'. Countess Aurelia and her two colourful friends vow to fight the money-hungry corporations who want to rip up her enchanted corner of Paris - but what can three "sensible" women do?
Starring AFI Award winning Deidre Rubenstein, Jackie Rees (Phantom of the Opera), Maureen Andrew (Billy Elliot), Grant Smith (The Threepenny Opera) and cabaret star Jon Jackson, DEAR WORLD featured the songs 'I Don't Want To Know', 'Each Tomorrow Morning' and 'Kiss Her Now'.
Based on Jean Giraudoux's play The Madwoman of Chaillot, this is a heartwarming tale of the forces of idealism, love and poetry triumphing over those of greed, materialism and science, and features the songs "Each Tomorrow Morning", "I Don't Want To Know" and "Kiss Her Now".
Opening on Broadway in 1969, DEAR WORLD provided Angela Lansbury with her second Tony Award for a Herman musical, following her career-making performance in MAME. With a newly revised and much tighter book and a re-arranged score, the musical has been taken back to the chamber style that it was originally intended for.
