THE [SECRET'S] OUT!
It's official! Tonight on Broadway At Bedtime, company director Aaron Joyner announced that Magnormos will be presenting the Australasian Premiere of the cult Broadway hit [title of show].
Auditions for four fantastic leads will soon take place for the May 2010 season.
 

2010 GREEN ROOM NOMINATIONS
Congratulations to Lucy Birkinshaw (Lighting Design), Chelsea Plumley (Female Artist in a Leading Role) and the company of Life's A Circus (Best New Australian Musical) for their recent nominations.

Other Magnormos Contributing Artists nominated this season include: Matt Hetherington, Sally Bourne, Nancye Hayes, Luke Hunter, Mark Jones, Michael Robinson, Danny Pettingill, Tim Minchin and John Thorn.
 

ARNO VANN THE LATEST TRIVIA WINNER
Arno Vann has taken out the title of 'Musical Theatre Superstar' at the latest Magnormos Musical Theatre Trivia Night hosted by Lyall Brooks.  The 'Team Champions' were 'Dainty June and her Newsboys', and all enjoyed some fantastic prizes including wine, theatre tickets, chocolates, and more.

LIFE'S A CIRCUS CAST AND DIRECTOR ANNOUNCED
The premiere presentation of Life's A Circus will be directed by Kris Stewart, resident director of Wicked and founder of the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and will feature the performance talents of Chelsea Plumley (Company, Sunset Boulevard), Glen Hogstrom (Les Miserables, Billy Elliot, Mamma Mia) and Cameron MacDonald (AltarBoyz, Miss Saigon).  Plumley, Hogstrom and MacDonald join four circus performers as part of the company, and musical direction will be by the composer, Anthony Costanzo, with musical supervision by Kellie Dickerson (Wicked), and choreography by Kate Priddle.

LIFE'S A CIRCUS
In August 2009, Magnormos will produce a limited season of Anthony Costanzo's Life's A Circus as part of the Magnormos Prompt! Musicals Program.  Recently debuted at OzMade Musicals 2008, Life's A Circus has music and lyrics by Anthony Costanzo, and a book by Peter Fitzpatrick.   Audition applications are now open for limited casting positions.
 

FLOWERCHILDREN WORKSHOP
Magnormos recently presented a workshop presentation of new musical flowerchildren as part of the Musical Theatre Readings Program.  Written by Peter Fitzpatrick, flowerchildren is the story of the legendary 60's group The Mamas and Papas, with a cast including Matt Hetherington, Laura Fitzpatrick, Paul Watson and Katrina Wellins.  More info>

THE 6TH MUSICAL THEATRE TRIVIA NIGHT WINNERS
With over 100 competitors, Simon Bowden has taken out the title of Musical Theatre Superstar at the latest Musical Theatre Trivia Night.  This is Simon's second win at a Magnormos Musical Theatre Trivia Night, and he was also part of the winning Team Champions "The Little Edies".

As winner of the evening, Simon had first pick of the Individual prize table, and he chose for himself a pack containing a double pass to Wicked, a Spamalot Cast Recording, a Haighs Chocolate voucher and a bottle of wine. 

2008 GREEN ROOM NOMINATIONS
Lyall Brooks has been nominated for Male Artist in a Featured Role for his portrayal of Man in The Thing About Men.

Magnormos is seeking submissions from artists for three remaining roles for a workshop production of new musical flowerchildren.  With an original book by Peter Fitzpatrick, flowerchildren features the songs of the legendary vocal group 'The Mamas and the Papas'.  More information>

NEW MUSICAL WORKSHOP
Magnormos has just completed a workshop of a new musical by David Mitchell and Melvyn Morrow, with a score by the late Ray Cook.  The workshop cast, led by director Aaron Joyner and musical director Sophie Thomas, included Abi Richardson, Anne Wood, Annie Phelan, Barry Mitchell, Don Bridges, Erin Cornell, Greg Ross, Peta Doodson, Sam Ludeman and Shaun Murphy, with musical support from Hayley Johnson and musical arrangements by Michael Tyack.

OZMADE MUSICALS 2008 DATE ANNOUNCED
The sixth annual OzMade Musicals gala concert will be held on Monday November 17th at the Athenaeum Theatre.  The evening will be hosted by Tony Sheldon, currently leading the Sydney cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert - the Musical, and will soon reprise the role of Bernadette on the West End.

The evening will celebrate the old and the new of Australian musical theatre, and will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Australian classic Lola Montez.

The Magnormos website has had a timely overhaul - and now has far less pink!  Designed around the colours and lines of the updated Magnormos Logo, the new site contains a News section and a new multi-media gallery.
