A Bunch of Ratbags

Music and Lyrics by Peter Pinne
Book and additional lyrics by Don Battye
Based on the novel by William Dick

Based on the controversial book of the same name, this funny, abrasive and confronting look at teenage delinquency during the rock 'n' roll 50's in Melbourne is an historic Australian work.  Written in 1966 it is technically the first musical to place a rock 'n' roll band into the pit, and was recognised in the 'Making a Song and Dance' exhibition (Victorian Arts Centre) as being one of the first Australian musicals to portray modern life in song and dance.  Almost fading away into antiquity, the smash-success season by the Magnormos Music Theatre Readings Program (MTRP) has revived the work, and the first ever commercially released soundtrack of the score (featuring the MTRP cast) is now available for purchase through Magnormos and www.australianmusicals.com

"I haven't had so good a time at a musical this year ... a classic"

- Owen Richardson, Sunday Age
