Heralded
as the first interactive musical, EUROBEAT is a loving tribute to the Eurovision
Song Contest in which the audience decides who wins every performance. Following
initial productions in 2003 and 2004 - and launching an original cast recording
– a much re-vamped EUROBEAT toured successfully across Australia in 2006
directed by Glynn Nicholas with musical direction by Andrew Patterson,
becoming the first Australian musical with an original score to tour the country
since the 1980’s. The song 'ESU O SATANAS' was originally the song to represent
Greece, and was performed (in Greek) by Helen Yotis in the earlier productions.
It was replaced for the tour with ‘Oh Aphrodite’, which at the close of the tour
was ranked the third most successful entry based on audience voting.
