Four brilliant women drawn from history come together to discuss the question 'Is it possible to use mathematics to predict life?' whilst giving insight into their own extraordinary stories.

SYNOPSIS Sonya Kovalevskaya, a brilliant 19th Century Russian mathematician, is trying to complete some new work when she is drawn into a discussion with women who have preceded her - Hypatia from Ancient Greece, Emilie Du Chaletet from 18th century Paris and Ada Byron Lovelace from early 19th Century London. The topic they explore is whether or not one can use mathematics to predict life, while through their conversation we are given detail and insight into each of their extraordinary lives and achievements.

STATUS For Co-Writer Craig Christie, the original hypothesis of this work sprung from a long held interest in the biographies of women mathematicians he discovered in a text book, for which he gave a dramatic treatment for another production. Christie and Keam teamed up to write LOVE EQUALS following a conversation at OzMade Musicals 2005. They decided to create a piece of music theatre exploring ideas that arose from the lives of four remarkable women mathematicians. LOVE EQUALS has since premiered as part of the Magnormos Prompt Musicals program in 2007 - more information.

CONTACT  LOVE EQUALS is listed in Hal Leonard's 2007 catalogue as 'The Sum Of Life' and interested parties can contact them directly at ausshows@halleonard.com.au
