VIRGINS comprises three vignettes: The
Virgin Wars, Girl on the Screen and Jumpin’ the Q. Linking central characters
Tracey, Lauren and Holly who represent ‘every woman’, the trilogy explores the
sexual gauntlet of popular culture, and the pressures of an increasingly
conservative, right-wing environment. CONNECT is the final number from Girl on
the Screen where Lauren, a columnist for a tabloid, unwittingly embarks on a
journalistic striptease when she is sent to bury a group of women who run
soft-porn websites. VIRGINS premiered in 2006 at the Malthouse Theatre directed
by Dean Bryant with Musical Direction by Luke Byrne.
