CASTING BRIEF

STORYLINE:
In 2004, two nobodies in New York decided to enter the inaugural New York Music Theatre Festival (NYMF). The problem was, they didn’t have a musical. With a deadline set, three weeks later they entered [title of show], named after the first line in the festivals application form. [title of show] is a musical by two guys named Jeff and Hunter about a musical by two guys named Jeff and Hunter. Its very specificity gives [title of show] broad appeal, as it takes a thoroughly unique and comical look at the pleasures and perils of the artistic process. The story (within a story) follows the two writers, and their two best friends, as they make the journey from nobodies – to somebodies. Around the world.


NOTES:
Following its debut at NYMF, [title of show] enjoyed an acclaimed run at the Vineyard Theater Off-Broadway in 2006, and the release of an Original Cast Album that same year. An even larger audience was cultivated through the enormously popular web series, the [title of show] show, and as diehard fans of the web series were the first to learn, the musical with Broadway aspirations reached its dream in July 2008, where it ran for just over 100 performances. The Magnormos season will be the first in Australasia, and the first production outside of the USA, following its release by Origin Theatrical.
 

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

HUNTER
Lead / Male / 20 to 35 years
Hunter wrote the book for [title of show], he dreams about making it to Broadway and one day winning a Tony Award. Hunter enjoys watching trashy reality television and1980’s Mega Musicals. He gets sweaty under his left armpit when nervous, and is often a little too eager to please.
